Bet you are wondering why I had puppies for breakfast...
They were too cute not to pass up!
Sometimes I wish I was a puppy, or a dog. All I would have to do is look cute and people would give me biscuits. I could roll around in the dirt, bark at birds, chase squirrels and sleep in the middle of the afternoon.
As a dog, you get judged on lots of things. I just saw a dog show on TV, and loved watching all the dogs prance around looking pretty for the judges. Then later, I thought about the other dogs. The tons of dogs at shelters that can't get homes. The dogs in china that are being farmed for fur and meat. Those Dalmatians that get chased by Cruella DeVille because they have no spots. (okay, the last sentence was an indulgence and bad joke)
As a person, you get judged on lots of things too. How much money you make, what you weigh, what type of car you drive, clothes you wear, etc. We are not that much different than dogs, are we? Lots of us get into the spotlight, while others are just mutts.
Not to God. God judges us by hearts, not appearances (1 Samuel 16:7)
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." I wonder how God would judge a dog show?
Kinda makes us feel good to know that God doesn't care if you have the latest BMW in your driveway. Don't believe me? Fine, but listen to what God says in Matthew 6:
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Yeah, each day definitely has enough trouble of its own. For example, should I pour milk on my puppies, or eat them dry? And is it polite to eat them with my fingers, or should I use a spoon?

XRC - I love the "Do not worry," piece from the bible. I had it on the wall at my old job, it always gave me some comfort when the walls started closing in.
And you're right, people do judge too much based off of material things. The heart is what matters, not what shirt you wear or the shoe you have.
I wish the whole world could see that material things aren't as important as they think. After all love is the most important thing to have. And love is free.
Have a great weekend.
Peace,
